Jamui police claimed to have foiled a major attempt by Naxalites to set free their jailed comrades by arresting a Naxalite zonal commander.

The cadre was coming from New Delhi and had been assigned the task of engineering the mission to release top cadres from Jamui jail.

Jamui superintendent of police Jitendar Rana said on November 17, on the basis of a tip-off, police detained nine persons from 12304 Dn Proova Express train when it stopped at Jamui station. They revealed that Lakhan Marandi who was accompanying them, managed to get off much before Jamui railway station.
