Muzaffarpur, Aug. 7: The heads of postgraduate departments and principals of constituent colleges of Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University have been asked to submit letter of intent for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council evaluation.

The government has asked the principal of Ramdayalu Singh College, a constituent unit of the university, to motivate the heads of postgraduate departments and principals of constituent colleges to prepare for the Naac accreditation.

Amrendra Narayan Yadav, the principal of Ramdayalu Singh College, said: “The government has shown an interest and entrusted me the responsibility to motivate the heads of postgraduate departments and the principals of 38 constituent colleges to apply for the Naac evaluation. The University Grants Commission has made it clear to the government that it would not provide annual grant to the colleges and postgraduate departments during the 12th Five Year Plan if they fail to get Naac accreditation this year.”

The government has declared Ramdayalu Singh College a nodal college in north Bihar, after it got Grade B from the Naac on January 5, 2013.

There are four universities in north Bihar — Bhimrao Ambedkar Bihar University, Muzaffarpur, Jaiprakash Narayan University, Chhapra, Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga and Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University.

The UGC has made the accreditation mandatory for all the postgraduate departments and colleges.

“If the UGC denies grant, the postgraduate departments and the constituent colleges would face financial constraints,” Yadav said.

He has invited all the heads of the postgraduate departments and principals of constituent colleges on August 14 to work out a plan to prepare the letter of intent. Officials of the education department and Ramdayalu Singh College would guide the heads of postgraduate departments and principals of constituent colleges to prepare the letter of intent and perform well to achieve better grades.
