Patna, Feb. 26: Mystery shrouds the death of Vimal Kant Kishore, alias Sudhir Kumar (33), a bank employee whose body was found hanging at his Jagat Balram apartment residence in the Dulhin Bazar area under SK Puri police station yesterday.

Bipin Sharma, the deceased’s brother who had come to Patna Medical College and Hospital with other family members to collect the body after post-mortem, said: “My brother did not commit suicide but was killed by his in-laws. Vimal did not have good terms with his wife.”

“Vimal, who used to work at UCO Bank, and his wife used to fight over trivial issues. A few days ago, his wife, Sheetal, had left for Jehanadbad without informing Vimal,” Bipin added.

Police found a diary from the room in which Vimal’s body was found. V. Gupta, the station house officer of SK Puri police station, said: “We found a page in the diary saying ‘I am leaving’.” The police also found bloodstains from the spot.

Vimal is survived by his wife and a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter.

SK Puri police claimed that Vimal committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling. Bipin said: “Sheetal used to go to her father’s house in Jehanadbad without informing Vimal about which Vimal was upset.”

Bipin added: “Vimal used to tell me that his life was disturbed after his marriage with Sheetal.”

The family members were waiting for the post-mortem report till reports last came in. SK Puri police said the exact reason behind the death could be ascertained only after the post-mortem report arrives.

The SK Puri police station station house officer, V. Gupta, said: “Prima facie, it appears to be a case of suicide but the exact reason behind the death would be known only after the post-mortem report comes.”

Sources said the neighbours noticed that the door to Vimal’s residence was ajar. Getting suspicious, they entered the house only to find Vimal hanging from the ceiling of a room. The neighbours apprised the police, who reached the spot and took the body in their possession.
