Opportunity calling
I knocked at your door, quietly, the swish of the wind, ever so lightly. Hoped you’d be happy to receive me, overjoyed at the chance of meeting me.
But you were too sloth, you ignored the call,
And my visit, I decided to stall.
Sometime later, I came once more, loudly this time, I knocked at your door.
I thought this time, I would be greeted,
Lost time forgotten, we’d both be elated.
This was not to be, you were busy making merry,
But it made you miss another of success ferry.
Persistent I am and large-hearted too,
I heard you had lately been blue, overlooking the inhospitality you meted out to me, I thought our rendezvous today would fill you with glee.
I knocked louder, again and again and again,
I was soon hammering even at your windowpane.
This time you misconstrued me to be a harbinger, Who would to your coffin, nail you down forever. You hid under your bed, you hid behind the curtain. That I was bad news, you were so certain,
But I was there to blow away your bad day.
To make your life more happy and gay.
Finally, I had to go to the door of another,
And you went around blaming me forever.
Shouting yourself hoarse to all who would listen,
That my aversion to you made your eyes glisten.
That opportunity never called at your door,
That, this was the reason your life was so sore.
All I have to say is, next time you hear me knock,
Take me in, and the world would be yours to rock.
