Patna, Dec. 9: The state human rights commission, taking serious note of police’s alleged failure to carry out proper investigation in a murder case, today directed the director-general of police (DGP) to deploy senior police officers to continue with probe.

According to the ruling, the appointed officer should not be below the rank of a DIG posted in CID, or any other senior officer the DGP deems fit. A bench of Justice Rajendra Prasad of the commission passed the direction while hearing a complaint filed by one Suresh Kumar who alleged that he and his family members had falsely been implicated in a murder case.

Kumar said he approached local police officials as well as the DGP for justice and prayed to the commission to get the case investigated by CID.
