Munger: Personnel responsible for documentation and paperwork in police stations around the district will no longer interact with visitors or complainants, the superintendent of police has ordered.

"To improve the image of Munger police, from now on, no munshi in any of the 15 police stations will speak to visitors. Only the officer-on-duty or station house officer (SHO) will speak to the people," Munger superintendent of police Babu Ram told The Telegraph on Sunday. "The officer on duty or the SHO are senior police officers and they will behave with the complainants properly. If needed, they can take prompt legal action against the offenders."

He added necessary instructions have been communicated to all SHOs and circle police inspectors at all 15 police stations in Munger district.

Among his other orders to crackdown on sexual harassment and eve-teasers in urban and rural areas, Babu Ram said names of habitual harassers and criminals will be entered in registers at the police stations and no character certificates will be issued to them in future.

"To keep the Munger personnel on alert round the clock, I have directed all the SHOs to keep 'wireless sets' open 24 hours from Sunday," he added. "The personnel have also been directed to execute all pending warrants and attachment orders in all serious cases."

The superintendent of police had held a review meeting on law and order with the personnel on Saturday.
