Patna/Muzaffarpur, Dec. 31: Police today detained a doctor in Muzaffarpur for allegedly molesting a 17-year-old girl, while a woman accused a neurologist in Patna of a similar charge.
Indrajeet Kumar was beaten up by a mob after the girl accused him of molesting her at a private nursing home in the Juran Chapra area under Barhampura police station.
The victim was admitted to the hospital seven days ago with some ailments in her nose. In an FIR with Barhampura police, she accused Kumar of entering her room this morning and molesting her.
When the girl raised an alarm, her brother, Vivek, rushed to the room and caught the doctor. Police said Vivek, along with some residents of the area, beat him up.
Deputy superintendent of police (Town) Baccha Singh, who had also gone to the hospital to take stock of the situation, had to face wrath of the mob.
Later, the police managed to bring the situation under control.
Barhampura police station sub-inpector Amrita Rani said the victim had been sent to Sadar Hospital for a medical check-up and the cops were interrogating Kumar.
In another incident, a 40-year-old woman in Patna accused a neurologist of molesting her during a check-up last evening. She lodged an FIR today with the Shastrinagar police.
A resident of Bihta, the woman was suffering from persistent headache and had sought an appointment with the private practitioner.
The woman reached the doctor’s clinic in the Rajabazaar area along with her sister last evening.
The complainant alleged that the doctor molested her inside the clinic on the pretext of checking her.
Though the police have not yet arrested the doctor, he rubbished the allegations levelled against him.
