Anup Institute of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation would introduce several new facilities while celebrating its 25th anniversary on October 19.

A state-of-the-art modular operation theatre would be inaugurated at the hospital on the occasion. A CT scan machine would also be installed.

The director of the hospital, Dr. R.N. Singh, said the silver jubilee programme would be conducted in two halves. First, orthopaedic surgeon from Edinburgh Dr Daniel Porter and Dr D.P. Bakshi, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon from Calcutta, would inaugurate the modular OT and CT scan machine on the hospital premises. In the evening, Supreme Court judge Justice Shiva Kirti Singh would formally inaugurate the silver jubilee celebration of the hospital officially at hotel Maurya. Justice Rekha M. Doshit of Patna High Court would be the special guest.

The director of the hospital, Dr R.N. Singh, said in a news conference: “Around Rs 1 crore has been spent on the modular operation theatre. It would ensure surgeries are conducted in an infection-free environment. Stainless steel has been used in its structure and anti-bacterial paint has been used on its wall. We have also focused on the interior light arrangements of the operation theatre. Special lights have been used for this. It would also be equipped with computer-assisted navigation system, available in very few hospitals in the eastern region.”

Equipment hang from the ceiling in modular operation theatres, reducing the chances of infection by 90 per cent. They have different zones — protective, clean, aseptic and disposable. Patients have to move to the different zones according to their condition.

A documentary on the life of orthopaedic surgeon and Padma Shri recipient Dr Singh would be screened to mark the silver jubilee celebrations of the hospital. Dr Ashish Singh, who has mastered the computer assisted orthopaedic surgeries in UK, would deliver a talk.

“Entering the silver jubilee year is really a big thing for us. In the past 25 years’ journey, the quality of treatment and patient care was never compromised with at the hospital. At present, many advanced treatments, including joint replacement surgery, are available at the hospital. We are trying to add more facilities to our hospital so that people of this state do not have to go outside for orthopaedic treatments,” added the director of the hospital.
