Mob lynches dreaded duo

Motihari, April 27: Two criminals were lynched to death by an irate mob on Wednesday morning. The duo had come to Puraina village under Dumariya Ghat police station area to kill a doctor.

According to sources, both the victims had been demanding extortion money from the doctor for the past few months, but when the latter failed to meet their demand they plotted to bump him off.

Soon after the incident, the Dumariya Ghat police reached the spot and took the bodies in their possession.

The police also seized some articles from the site of the incident and have started an investigation.

East Champaran superintendent of police Ganesh Kumar has confirmed the lynching of the criminals by the villagers. The victims have been identified as Pankaj Singh and Raju Singh of Siswa Patna village under Kalyanpur police station. Kumar added the two were wanted in several cases.

The police recovered a carbine, two magazines with 20 cartridges and a motorcycle from their possession.

According to police, Pankaj Singh was a criminal while Raju Singh was said to be a professional shooter presently working for the Mohan Singh-Laxmi Singh gang.

Both the victims were named accused in a teacher’s murder case in Chand Parsa village under Kesariya police station last month. The teacher was fired upon and killed when he failed to cough up the extortion money.

The police have registered a case in the matter and the body has been sent for autopsy.
