Lalu Prasad’s eldest daughter Misa Bharti on Sunday played down the demand raised by party national spokesperson and MLA Iliyas Hussain to make her the RJD’s state unit president.

Misa said she was under-qualified for the post and there were several senior leaders in the party who could take up the responsibility.

On Saturday, Iliyas said Misa should get the big responsibility in the party and that he would also give his opinion to Lalu as state unit president Ram Chandra Purbey’s term ends on January 20, 2016.

The party has launched a membership drive and its organisational election is scheduled to get over before January 20.

Misa told The Telegraph: “I am under-qualified for the post of state unit president and there are other senior leaders in the party who could don the chair. However, I am grateful that party leaders are giving me so much of respect and love but so far as taking the post, I am under-qualified. Becoming a minister and having a post in the organisation are two different things. Seniority and experience matter in running the organisation and party.”

Chitranjan Gagan, the party’s state spokesperson, had supported Iliyas’s idea.

“There is a demand of some people in the party and I feel great that they think I am capable for that post. In future, if the party gives me any responsibility, I will see. But as of now, I am not in the race for the post (party state unit president). I do not consider myself experienced enough for the post,” said Misa.

RJD legislature party leader and her mother, Rabri Devi, had said that Misa was not interested in any post but contesting the next Lok Sabha elections. Misa had contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but lost to BJP candidate Ram Kripal Yadav.

Misa said: “I will not step back if any responsibility is given to me for the betterment of the state and the party. But again I must say that as of now, I am in the race for any post.”

Misa also heaped praise on her brothers Tej Pratap and Tejaswi, saying they were doing fine.

Tejaswi is the youngest deputy chief minister the country has ever seen whereas Tej Pratap is the health minister.

“Both my brothers are doing very well. Tejaswi has chalked out plans for better roads, widening state highways from 3ft to 7ft. The visions and thoughts of the youth are different and it is reflecting in their work. Within a very short time, they have made an impact and people are looking up at them. Despite lack of experience, they have shown enough maturity, politics is there in their blood,” Misa said, adding that both her brothers would live up to the expectations of the people and they would utilise the mandate for the development of the state.
