Patna: Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS) state unit president Brishen Patel on Sunday counter-attacked Narendra Singh for slamming Jitan Ram Manjhi over the decision to side with the RJD.
"I must clarify that Narendra Singh is not even a member of our party and there is affidavit proof. He was fighting a case in Patna High Court with regard to his (JDU) membership in the Bihar Legislative Council. He had submitted an affidavit in the court that he is not a member of a political party with the name of Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS) and was still with the JDU. In which capacity is he levelling charges and throwing us out of the party?" Patel asked while interacting with reporters at 12 M Strand Road, the official residence of Manjhi.
When Patel was addressing the media, Manjhi was attending an event in Gaya. Singh earlier in the afternoon accused Manjhi of "compromising with the RJD for the sake of an MLC seat for his son". Reacting to the allegation levelled by Singh, who claimed himself as the national executive committee member of HAMS, Patel said Singh is not even a member of the party.
Attacking Singh over his another allegation that Manjhi did not consult anyone before taking the decision of going with the RJD, Patel slammed him calling him a big liar and claimed that Singh was very much present in the meeting when the decision was being taken by Manjhi.
Patel said in the democratic set up, HAMS is the only party that not only spoke to the executive members of the party but also with the district presidents before arriving at a decision.
Accompanied by HAMS national spokesperson Danish Rizwan at Manjhi's residence Patel said: "We have made the alliance with the RJD in the most democratic way by calling all the district presidents of Bihar. In front of them the proposal of going with the RJD was floated and every district president raised their hands and authorised Manjhi ji to take the decision. They said the alliance with the RJD is a demand of the present situation. Even the state executive members were consulted and they too agreed."
Patel said Singh never used to attend any meeting called by Manjhi because he was fighting the legal battle, however, he finally admitted Singh was associated with the HAMS. The HAMS state unit president rather charged Singh for asking a Rajya Sabha seat from RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
"It is Narendra Singh who is running from pillar to post seeking MLC seats for his two sons. He had once told me to speak to Lalu Prasad for sending him to the Rajya Sabha," Patel said.
