Patna, June 20: A 45-year old man was killed for having a live-in relationship with a woman, allegedly by her sons.
The deceased, identified as Ram Balak Rai of Musharni area in Jagdeo Path area, was having a live-in relationship with a middle-aged woman, Sita Devi, for the past few years. According to Airport police station sources, the woman's four sons were not happy with the affair and used to quarrel with her over the issue.
On Saturday, Rai had an altercation with Sita Devi's sons after which they attacked him with sharp-edged weapon, injuring him seriously.
An officer at Airport police station said: "Rai sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead." The Airport police station has registered a case against the woman and her sons.
In another incident in the city, Patna police arrested a notorious criminal, Dipu Kumar, who was involved several loot incidents, on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday. Dipu was also involved in the loot of Rs 5.25 lakh from a micro-finance company at Bihta in April."
The police also recovered a country-made pistol and three live cartridges from Dipu's possession. According to police sources, cash amounting to Rs 5.25 lakh was looted from the micro-finance company at Bihta on April 29. Based on instructions from the Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP), a police team was constituted comprising police officials from Bihta and Danapur area.
The police, based on the tip-off and scientific investigation received information that some criminals were planning to commit a big crime at Nehuraganj (Bihta). The police reached the spot and nabbed Dipu and his associates. Dipu, in his confession, also revealed that he was involved in the loot of Rs 3.75 lakh from another finance company, Mahindra Finance, at Bihta in August last year. The police said, several other cases have been lodged against Dipu at Bihta police station.
