Patna, Oct. 18: First-year BCom students of Patna University are shocked by their results. For, most of them have got far less marks than they expected.
Sources said more than 250 students have got 10 or below in some subjects. Some have got zero or one in a few papers. A few students have also got less than pass marks in papers they have not taken examinations.
Kumar Vishwajeet, a BCom student at the directorate of distance education (DDE) said: “Many first-year B Com students at DDE have got less than 10 in a number of papers. Students who have passed have also got bare minimum marks.”
Commerce students are not the only one facing the unpleasant music. Many geology students have also failed.
All India Students’ Federation (AISF) and All India Students’ Association have take up the cause of the students.
AISF member Sushil Kumar told The Telegraph: “Some students have been given marks in papers they have not taken exams in. The anomalies have occurred because teachers from other universities often evaluate the papers. There is also no transparency in the evaluation process.”
PU examination controller Binay Soren accepted that anomalies had crept in. He assured that BCom papers would be re-totalled.
