Liquor cuffs on NRI

Patna: An NRI, Raj Srivastava (25), settled in the US was arrested and forwarded to judicial custody for allegedly consuming alcohol in West Champaran, around 180km northwest of Patna, on Wednesday. Police said Raj and his friend Akhilesh Kumar Sharma (30), were found allegedly in an inebriated condition during routine patrol at Raj Dyodhi in Bettiah town.

Rape threat

Patna: A kabaddi player lodged a complaint with the Pandarak police station in Patna rural on Thursday alleging that unidentified persons had attempted to molest and threatened to rape her. The victim has stopped attending her practice sessions in apprehension of further trouble.

Court order

Patna: A Rohtas court on Thursday awarded three years of rigorous imprisonment to six persons for tampering with a forensic report in order to seek bail in a case related to the seizure of narcotics from Dehri police station area of Rohtas district in 2009. A fine of Rs 10,000 each has also been imposed on them.

Fake notes

Darbhanga: Government Railway Police arrested two persons and recovered counterfeit currency notes with a face value of Rs 1.5 lakh from Laherisarai railway junction. The notes were in denominations of Rs 100 and Rs 500.

Liquor haul

Excise and prohibition department sleuths arrested three persons and seized 2,175 litres of foreign liquor at the Dalkota check post in Purnea district on Wednesday. The arrested - Raju Rai, Rajesh Kumar and Basudev Choudhary - were later produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody for 14 days.
