Life term for murder

• Patna: The Patna civil court on Wednesday awarded life imprisonment to five members of a family for the murder of Kislay Sharma. The life imprisonment has been awarded in the court of Justice Ram Surat to Siyaram Sharma, his son Rajdev Sharma and three of his cousins, all residents of Madhopur village in Phulwarishariff.

The murder was a result of a land dispute and Kislay was gunned down when he was sitting in front of his house in the same village.

Donations

• Patna: Actor Aamir Khan on Wednesday donated Rs 25 lakh to the Bihar government for flood relief operations. The Dangal actor donated the money on behalf of his company Aamir Khan Production Pvt Ltd. BJP MP C.P. Thakur also donated Rs 20 lakh to the chief minister's relief fund for flood victims.

In memory

• Patna: A remembrance session was organised on Wednesday in memory of noted sociologist Hetukar Jha. Noted Gandhian Razi Ahmed said Jha was an avid reader and his passing away was a great loss in the field of education and sociology in particular.

Pay plea

• Patna: Bihar Secondary School Teachers' Association on Wednesday urged chief minister Nitish Kumar to implement the benefits of the seventh pay commission for all categories of teachers in the state in the wake of the government giving benefits of the commission to the contract employees of the state health department.
