Several Left parties on Wednesday alleged that the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government’s recommendation of a CBI probe into the murder of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh “Mukhiya” smacked of “double standard”.
“Mukhiya was a key accused in almost all Dalit massacres across central and south Bihar. We want an integrated probe by the CBI in the murder of Mukhiya and the cases of Dalit carnages in which he (Mukhiya) and his (Sena) supporters figured as accused,” CPM Bihar secretary Vijay Kant Thakur said.
The leader was addressing a press conference in the presence of representatives from four other Left parties — CPI, CPI-ML (Liberation), SUCI and Forward Bloc. The parties announced a joint agitation plan, including demonstrations at all the district headquarters across the state on June 15 to press for their demands.
According to the Left leaders, the government has resorted to “double standard” in recommending CBI probe was evident from the fact that it refused to handover the “murder” case of the killing of the five members of minority community in a police firing in Forbesganj last year to the CBI.
Besides the CBI probe in all the cases of Dalit massacre involving Ranvir Sena and Mukhiya, the Left parties demanded fulfilment of the government’s promise to move Supreme Court against Patna High Court’s order, acquitting the 23 accused persons of the Bathani Tola massacre case and dismissal of the state health minister for his failure to rescue the children affected by encephalitis-like disease in Tirhut and Gaya regions.
Nitish Kumar had announced to file an appeal in the apex court in connection with Bathani Tola massacre. But it seems that the government is dithering from its promise under the duress from feudal forces. The government has not made any preparation to file the appeal so far,” Dhirendra Jha of CPI(ML) said, adding that his party would move Supreme Court against the HC’s order.
