Ara: Union minister of state (independent charge) for power and new and renewable energy R.K. Singh on Saturday dedicated 4,611 smart and energy-efficient LED lights installed under the Street Light National Programme (SLNP) to Ara residents. Singh represents the Ara constituency.

The state had signed an MoU in December 2017 with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture under the administrative control of the ministry of power implementing SLNP, to retrofit and install around 3 lakh conventional streetlights with LEDs in all 38 districts. Minister for urban development and housing Suresh K. Sharma and EESL chairman Rajeev Sharma were at the event.
