Patna, Aug. 5: All buildings across Gandhi Maidan are set to bathe in laser lights if a new proposal of the state tourism department gets clearance for laser shows.
On the patterns of Hong Kong’s Symphony of Lights or New York’s Times Square, the state tourism department is working on plans of laser light shows on all buildings across Gandhi Maidan. The police department, too, has proposed to make the entire area a “walking plaza” during the laser light shows.
Sunil Kumar “Pintu”, the state minister of tourism department informed that such a plan for making laser light shows is a brainchild of chief minister Nitish Kumar. “It was during his (Nitish) recent China visit that he got mesmerised with laser light shows at Nanjing Lu. It was only then that he got this idea of making similar laser shows in Patna as well. Thus, acting on his wish, the tourism department chalked out plans for laser light shows on all buildings around the Gandhi Maidan,” said Pintu.
Pintu said that Gandhi Maidan would be Patna’s version of Times Square. “The proposed laser light shows would be on nightly basis for one or one-and-a-half hours and these shows would be as good as those at Times Square and in Hong Kong. The idea is to reveal extra personality of the buildings and the entire area at night,” added Pintu.
Pintu also informed that the tourism department has initiated preliminary steps for this proposed laser light shows. “The tourism department has consulted technical experts for making survey of the entire area and the expected cost for this plan. Also, solar energy would be used for supplying electricity to laser light projectors and other equipment. Moreover, owners of all buildings around Gandhi Maidan including State Bank of India, Maurya Hotel, Regent Cinema and Biscomaun Tower, were enthralled with the proposed laser light shows that they have even volunteered to make all possible contribution required, including financial assistance, to make the plan successful,” said Pintu.
Radio taxis by Oct.
Pintu informed that the services of radio taxis would be made operational from October 2.
“Tourism department would be signing agreements with two taxi operating companies after August 15. Both the companies would be providing 30 radio taxis each, which would be new models and luxurious cars equipped with modern equipment,” Pintu said.
