Patna, June 26: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today blamed the BJP for the jungle raj (lawlessness) and accused its leaders of being responsible for all the crimes witnessed during his regime.

Lalu also held the RSS responsible for the kidnapping and said the BJP have nothing more to say about him except the jungle raj.

"The words jungle raj were the remark of Patna High Court and the BJP leaders are using it continuously because they do not have anything to say. But the fact is something else. Actually it was the BJP and the RSS (members) who committed all the crimes, including the kidnappings during my regime," Lalu said on the concluding day of the division-wise meeting in which cadres from Munger had gathered at the party office.

On August 6, 1997, a division bench of the high court orally observed that there was no state government worth the name and jungle raj prevailed in Bihar. The bench was referring to the horrible civic conditions in Patna, however, the Opposition BJP caught on the word and started attacking the government.

Before shaking hands with Lalu, even chief minister Nitish Kumar used the words many times in public meetings and had said that the Lalu-Rabri government was synonymous to jungle raj. However, after Lalu and Nitish came together, the BJP became more vehement to attack both the leaders with the term Jungle Raj part-II.

The BJP leaders are using the term in every news meet and public meetings off late. When BJP national president Amit Shah was in Bihar he, too, said the Nitish-Lalu friendship is jungle raj part-II. The term got so much hype that now the BJP has included in their election agenda.

Lalu added: "I have all the detailed documents on how the BJP leaders were responsible for the crime and kidnappings during my regime. I can easily expose the ones who had kidnapped a doctor in Hajpur from the Bhumihar community. I have all the details, the connection of BJP leaders with Ranvir Sena was proved in the Amir Das commission report."

The Bihar government had set up the Amir Das commission to probe the nexus between the politicians and the banned Ranvir Sena, however, later it was disbanded by the Nitish government.

Lalu further accused the BJP leaders of creating disharmony in the society and playing the communal cards ahead of Assembly elections. He cited yesterday's Jehanabad incident of group clash in which several people got injured.
