Patna: The Sri Krishna Puri police on Monday night arrested Sujit Kumar Yadav, a member of the bikers' gang called Kings of Patna.

Sujit, police sources said, lives in Delhi to prepare for competitive exams but frequents Patna as he is an active member of the gang.

The SK Puri police arrested him in connection with a case lodged on August 14.

For the past few months, the Patna police have been receiving complaints - especially from women and college-going girls - of bikers' gang members being involved in criminal activities.

The cops came to know that an FIR was lodged against some youths at SK Puri police station on August.

The gang, to terrorise people, had damaged six bikes and fired gunshots in a lane near the Basawan Park area.

Based on the FIR, the police nabbed Sujit on Monday night.

"Sujit is an active member of Kings of Patna," said SK Puri police SHO Arvind Kumar. "The Kings of Patna had several cases at different police stations as the members of gang are involved in various criminal activities."

Police sources said Sujit's father runs a dairy.

"As his father has no shortage of money, few years back he sent his son for competitive examination preparation in Delhi," said a police officer. "But Sujit, who has little interest in studies, used to visit Patna frequently."

Complaints against the Kings of Patna include chain snatching, extortion, harassing women, and theft. Their rash driving also wreaks havoc on the streets.

SHO Arvind Kumar said: "The members of Kings of Patna, one of the most active and notorious bikers' gangs, are mostly young men - graduates or school-going students.

"They are well-versed in social media platforms and generally befriend ordinary youths, mostly unemployed," the SHO added. The gang members then persuade the gullible youths to "join their group and to become partners in crime," he said.
