Patna, Oct. 14: The rural-urban divide in the country can be bridged easily if the vision of students participating in the National Children’s Science Congress here is taken into account by the authorities.

More than 24 teams of different city-based schools participated in the competition and presented their projects on the topic “Land resources – its use for well-being and safe future”. The day-long district-level competition was organised on the premises of Shrikrishna Science Centre today.

The innovative ideas projected by the students through models and drawings on chart papers impressed not only the organisers but also the visitors at the venue.

Sushmita Saurav Kataryar, a Class XII student of DAV Public School, Walmi, and her three friends created a model promoting “vertical farming” in cities. Through the model, they showed how farming could be practised in high-rises as well.

Another students’ group from DPS shared its study of hindrances in rural areas which affect crop farming and suggested ways how the farmers could improve their produce in quality as well as quantity. The science congress organisers said students who would win today’s competition will qualify for the state-level National Children’s Science Congress, scheduled in Madhubani on October 24. Those who would win the state-level contest would enter the national-level competition, scheduled in Jaipur from December 27 to 31.
