Former President APJ Abdul Kalam is expected to attend the first convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology, Patna (IIT-Patna), on Sunday.
“Kalam has agreed to be the chief guest of the function,” IIT-Patna director A.K. Bhowmik said on Friday.
Eighty-nine BTech students will be awarded the degrees at Rabindra Bhavan. Thirty-nine of them are from the computer science and engineering department, 26 from the electrical engineering department and 24 from the mechanical engineering department. IIT-Patna will also honour former IIT-Kharagpur director K.L. Chopra and former chairman of Atomic Energy Commission of India Anil Kakodkar.
