Girls perform in a group during a programme to welcome freshers at Magadh Mahila College in Patna on Wednesday. Besides singing and dancing in groups, the students also presented individual shows. Rini, a student of the college, mesmerised the audience with a sufi number. The freshers also walked the ramp. Shalu Sharma was declared Miss Fresher, while Priya and Rangoli were the first and second runners-up, respectively. Asha Singh, the professor in-charge and the founder member of the commerce department, asked the freshers to concentrate on their respective goals. “It is important to be disciplined to achieve one’s ambition,” she said. Bharti Bagchi, the co-ordinator of the commerce department, said the college has experienced teachers and the students should take their help whenever they needed. Shashi Sharma, the head of the political science department, spoke on the uniform that the department has introduced. “Uniform instills a sense of discipline among the students, which is bound to help them,” she said.
