Patna, April 15: The uproar over placements at Chanakya National Law University continued today with students locking up the administrative building and holding vice-chancellor (VC) A. Laxminath and registrar S.P. Singh as hostage.
“The final and first batch of students of the five-year integrated course would pass out next month, but it appears all the 80 students would leave the campus without a job as no company has visited the varsity for placements,” said Anand, a fifth year student.
The students were demanding explanation from authorities about promises made by the VC regarding placements of students during their admissions five years ago. The protests started today in the afternoon after fifth year students of the varsity went to meet the VC.
Abhiraj, a student, said: “We got aggrieved when the VC refused to disclose names of companies and law firms, due to visit for placements.
“On Monday, when a few students went to meet Nitish Kumar at his janata darbar, he was shocked to know that placements have not started in the varsity as yet,” said Richa, a fifth year student.
Laxminath said: “We are trying hard for student placements and few companies are in the pipeline. They will visit the varsity soon.”
