Bagaha, Feb. 28: Two Sashastra Seema Bal jawans were hospitalised at MJK Sadar Hospital, Bettiah, after a tiger attacked them when they were patrolling on Sunday, sources said.

The jawans — Satyendra Kumar and Virendra Vishwakarma — were attacked as they were proceeding towards Kamarchinwa area, adjacent to the Valmiki Tiger Reserve, for patrolling.

The officers, who belonged to the 21st battalion, were posted at the Hathinala border outpost under Ramnagar police station in West Chamaparan.

K.R. Gogoi, the Hathinala assistant commandant, confirmed the attack.

Sources said Satyendra hails from Rajasthan while Virendra is from Bengal. Residents said one Anaraj Mahto of Gobarahiya village under the same area, was also attacked by the same tiger.
