Patna: A team of the India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) called on state tourism minister Pramod Kumar on Tuesday to discuss plans for development of important tourist places in north and central Bihar.

The meeting was a follow-up of a proposal sent by ITDC earlier this month to the state in which it had evinced interest in developing tourist sites in Bihar.

Tourism minister Kumar told The Telegraph: "We intend to develop a rural circuit, an eco circuit and a wildlife circuit to attract tourists. We placed our plans before the ITDC team and sought details from them about their effectiveness in implementing the projects for the important tourist sites."

The proposed circuits have been divided into north Bihar and central Bihar regions. In the north, the proposal is to cover the Motihari-Bettiah-Raxaul-Valmikinagar-Sagauli circuit in the Champaran region and also important tourist places spread over Saran division.

In the central region, the circuit would cover tourist sites spread over the Patna-Jehanabad-Arwal-Aurangabad circuit.

At the meeting, ITDC officials made a presentation on the projects they have implemented elsewhere in the country. "We are more or less convinced about roping them in," said a tourism department official who was present in the meeting.

Minister Kumar informed that a meeting would be held at Motihari on February 8 in which the ITDC officials would discuss the tourist sites with the district magistrates of East and West Champaran.
