Patna: Traders in Bihar will from Friday have to generate e-way bills for intra-state transportation of goods worth Rs 2 lakh or more.

The e-way bill system for inter-state transportation of goods worth Rs 50,000 or more had been implemented from April 1 this year.

"While the central norms are followed in case of intra-state transportation of goods, the states have been given the permission of deciding the limit for the e-way bill generation in case of intra-state trade," a senior commercial taxes department official said on Thursday. "Based on our past experience, we fixed the Rs 2-lakh limit for e-way bill generation for intra-state transportation."

The department will use the services of the same helpdesk - that became functional on April 1 for inter-state transportation of goods - to help traders regarding generation of e-way bills.
