Inter-city bus service launch today

The Bus service from Kargil Chowk to Danapur will start from Thursday in which 25 buses would be put in service and would be available every 10 minutes.

Patna: The Bus service from Kargil Chowk to Danapur will start from Thursday in which 25 buses would be put in service and would be available every 10 minutes.

Many other services of the transport department would be launched from Gyan Bhavan by chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday.

Transport secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal and his team on Wednesday inspected the final preparation at Gyan Bhavan where buses along with the drivers and conductor were present. They gave the demonstration on how the buses function and how the tickets would be issued through the electronic device.

The 32-seater buses of the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) are equipped with closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) and first-aid box. Even on the route, a chart along with the tickets rates are displayed inside the buses.

The bus has 32 seats, while eight passengers can standand each bus will make 12 trips from Kargil Chowk to Danpur bus stand. Agarwal said the transport department has set a target of providing facility to at least 10,000 people on a daily basis.

"These buses will only stop at its identified 23 bus stops and at no other place. The driver and conductor have been strictly asked not to stop the bus even when passengers raise their hands in the middle of the road. The drivers and conductors have been given proper training and the electric ticket would be generated," Agarwal said.

The buses will start from Kargil Chowk and stop at places like Udhgoy Bhavan, Doordarshan, Bata Mor, Dakbungalow, Patna Junction, GPO roundabout, R-Block, Income Tax, Patna Women's College, Bihar Museum, Hartali Mor, Secretariat, Lalit Bhavan, Patna zoo, Shiekhpura Mor, IGIMS, Ashiana Mor, Jagdeo Path, Gola Road, RPS Mor, Saguna Mor and Danapur.

The minimum fare would be Rs 5 and the maximum Rs 16. Agarwal said in the coming days, even the air-conditioned buses would also ply in the route. In every bus, 50 per cent seats are reserved for women, one seat for transgenders and a few seats for senior citizens.

Apart from this, several other services would be launched like E-challan for traffic violators from the electronic device. At present, three machines have come and 10 more are on the way. In the coming days, 100 such machines would be used across the state.

E-Transport application would also be lunched through which people can only apply for driving licence and later the feature of registering complaint would also be added. The chief minister will also lay the foundation stone of 15 district transport offices, including Patna, on Thursday. Nitish will also start Bihar's first Institute of Driving and Traffic Research in Aurangabad.
