Patna, Aug. 11: Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna (CIMP), today inaugurated a social marketing club. It would enable students to work for women empowerment and increase social awareness of people.
In her address at the inaugural function of the club, Meenu Vadera, the founder and executive director of Azad Foundation, said women would feel safer in the society if they have better access to male-dominated sectors.
She said: “Azad Foundation has helped hundreds of poor women from slums in Delhi. We have taught them to drive cars and buses. It not only helped them to earn a better livelihood but also made women comm- uting in public transport confident.”
Vadera insisted that the CIMP students should take up similar initiatives through the club to bring about a change in the state. The students appeared ready to do so.
V. Mukunda Das, the CIMP director, said: “A person should be conscious about social issues. I have instructed my faculty members that they will be fined if they keep the water taps open or don’t switch off lights when they leave a room at the institute.”
