Patna, March 6: A 28-year-old man was arrested today for posing as a Supreme Court judge and calling up education minister P.K. Shahi five days ago, requesting him to provide jobs to his nephew and niece.
Identified as Sudhir Kumar, the accused is an unemployed youth from Muzaffarpur. He had posed as Supreme Court judge Tirath Singh Thakur.
Sudhir was nabbed from the minister’s office at the secretariat after he had come down to meet Shahi between 3pm and 4pm.
“Education department officials caught him before handing him over to police personnel present at the secretariat. The Sachivalaya police station was apprised and an FIR was lodged. The police recovered a cellphone and a Delhi SIM card from which the call was made,” an officer at Sachivalaya police station told The Telegraph.
“According to the FIR, the man had called up Shahi five days ago and requested the education minister to ensure jobs for his nephew and niece. The duo, Sudhir claimed, had appeared for the Teachers’ Eligibility Test and the Secondary Teachers’ Eligibility Test examinations,” the officer added.
