Patna, Sept. 14: Chilli paneer, paneer tikka, paneer butter masala will leave you craving for more. Now, for those of you who are health conscious and have restricted yourself to the treats of cottage cheese (paneer), hope is in sight.
Food and beverages company GLD Foundation today launched its new product, Soya Paneer (made of soya bean milk), in the state capital. Health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey, the chief guest, said: “Many people in our state fall prey to heart disease and cancer because of less intake of protein. We know cow and buffalo milk is a prime source of protein for children. But these days, we come across news of people using injections to increase milk production. While it may not harm the animal, the milk is harmful for us. People do not have any alternative. But this Soya Paneer is a good option.”
C.K. Mishra, the principal secretary of industry department, said: “I am happy that GLD Foundation has picked Bihar to launch its new product. I hope these kinds of efforts of food processing companies create job opportunities for farmers in Bihar and help consumers get better products.”
Marketing manager of GLD Foundation Roshan Kumar Sharma said the product would be available at 9 to 9, Big Bazaar and other outlets in the city. The product will come in two 200g varieties — basic and premium — at Rs 30 and Rs 34 respectively.
Umashankar Sharma, the company advisor, said: “Soya Paneer is much more nutritious than the paneer made up of milk. This product is cholesterol- and lactose-free, low in fat and rich in protein and calcium.”
This is the reason it is rich in nutritional value and very popular in countries like China, Japan and America where it is known as tofu.”
