Patna, Oct. 19: Patna High Court today asked the state human resource development (HRD) department, Magadh University, Bodhgaya vice-chancellor and the registrar to file replies on a petition alleging granting of temporary affiliation to around 50 institutes in violation of settled rules by the university.

A division bench of Justice T. Meena Kumari and Justice Vikash Jain passed the direction on a petition filed by Arvind Kumar Singh who had alleged that Magadh University, in connivance with higher education under HRD department, granted temporary affiliation to about 50 institutions in flagrant violation of settled rules and norms.

The petitioner has mentioned names of 50 BBA and BCA institutions, which have been given temporary affiliation for one and two years on extraneous consideration.

Singh, the petitioner, contended that such an action (granting temporary affiliation) not only reflect the arbitrariness on the part of the university and HRD but has also put the career of students in jeopardy. There is every possibility that the affiliation of these institutes would be taken away in the mid-session, he added.

Teachers’ test

The high court today directed the state government to file its reply on a petition challenging the state government’s decision to hold teachers’ eligibility test (TET) examination to appoint three lakh teachers in government schools in three years.

A bench of Ramesh Kumar Datta sought response from the state government while hearing a petition filed by Nuzhat Iqbal, seek- ing direction to the government not to conduct TET examinations.

PIL dismissed

The high court today dismissed a PIL challenging the appointment of Ashok Kumar Pandey as the managing director of Bihar State Hydroelectric Power Corporation. Dismissing the petition, a division bench of Justice T. Meena Kumari and Justice Vikash Jain said: “What is your (petitioner) locus? How are you affected? You are not aggrieved person.”
