Patna: Hindustani Awam Morcha Secular (HAMS) national executive member and former minister Narendra Singh slammed HAMS national president Jitan Ram Manjhi on Sunday for going with the RJD.
Narendra, who once played an important role in the Nitish Kumar-Manjhi episode during the 2014 political chaos, announced that he will soon call the meeting of its core committee members to elect the new president of the HAMS.
He alleged that Manjhi had gone to the RJD for the sake of the MLC seat for his son and his compromise with RJD chief Lalu Prasad was big shame for the party, as he had always fought against Lalu's regime.
Narendra alleged that Manjhi took the decision in haste without consulting any of the party leaders.
"A few days ago, it was decided in a meeting that the future strategy of HAMS will be decided during the party rally at Gandhi Maidan on April 8," said Narendra.
"Manjhi ji neither called a meeting of the national executive committee nor of the state executive committee. Without speaking to anyone, Manjhiji took the decision which is unparliamentary."
Narendra's sons Ajay Pratap and Sumit Kumar Singh, who had contested the 2015 polls but lost were also present. But the duo were not sitting on the dais with their father.
Narendra further accused Manjhi of going to the BJP in the hope of getting his son an MLC seat. " Yeh party kisi ki bapauti nahi hai (This party is not the fiefdom of anyone). This party was formed to fight for the rights of the downtrodden and poor people and not to serve the interests of any particular person."
Narendra claimed that most HAMS leaders were on his side and not of Manjhi. He dropped names of state Dalit cell president Rameshwar Rajak, Musahar leader Ganjendra Manjhi, Mahadalit cell state president Verma Kumar, Naresh Shao and few others.
Narendra said he did not hold any post in the party but was an executive member and was responsible for taking organisational decisions in the HAMS. He also accused Manjhi of insulting party workers. He announced that in the next 10 to 15 days, he will call the party core committee meeting to elect the new HAMS president and the state unit president, a post that Brishen Patel holds at present.
He did not miss the opportunity to attack Lalu Prasad. "We have struggled against Lalu Prasad's jungle raj (lawlessness) and it is shocking that Manjhiji has gone with him. We are the real HAMS and we are still with the NDA. Today, I declare that Manjhi ji and Brishen Patel will be thrown out of the party," Narendra said.
Asked about going to Nitish for the sake of his two sons, Narendra denied asking anything from anyone for his sons.
