The Gaya police have initiated a detailed survey of the hotels, monasteries, rest houses and dharamshalas where devotees and tourists stay during their visit to Bodhgaya.

The survey has become necessary after the July 7 serial blasts in Bodhgaya.

Senior officers during a security review meeting in Bodhgaya have raised the issue that hotels and monasteries do not make available the details of the visit of foreigners through Form-C. Under Section 3 of the Foreign Registration Act 1939, Form-C has to be filled by the foreigners visiting India.

Gaya senior superintendent of police Nishant Kumar Tiwari told The Telegraph that the forms have been handed out to the officials of hotels, monasteries, rest houses and dharamshalas.

Through the forms, detailed information about the visit of foreign nationals has been sought. It has also been sought whether the hotels, monasteries, rest houses and the dharamshalas maintain Form-C or not.

Apart from the Form-C, the facilities have also been asked to furnish information regarding availability of guest register with a column indicating the visitor’s purpose of visit and whether it is being maintained or not.

The survey will help ensure proper security arrangements in and around Bodhgaya.

Police personnel have been engaged to make available the form and ask representatives to submit it at the Bodhgaya police station.

In the wake of survey details, security measures will be facilitated to the foreign tourists.
