MOMENTS: CIMP students perform at Udbhav 18

Udbhav 18, the annual business fest organised by Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna on Friday, commemorated 10 years of the institution with participants from Delhi, Visakhapatnam, and other cities along with the host college.

Director V. Mukunda Das inaugurated the daylong show and addressed the audience.

Eureka: The B-plan competition had about 20 participants from several institutions being judged by CIMP faculty members Sriranga Vishnu, G.K. Murthy and Kalyan Agrawal.

Roshnie Monga and Raj Kamal from the host college emerged the winner of the competition with a cash prize of Rs 5,000. Another event was D'Picasso: The Painting Competition.

CIMP teacher Sibananda Senapati judged the 32 participants in the round and expressed happiness with the masterpieces created by the students.

Mohammed Firdaus Alam from NIT-Patna received Rs 2,000 for the first position while Ayushi Gupta from ISM-Dhanbad and Sejal Kumari from Magadh Mahila College came second and third respectively.

Anamika, a student from CIMP, said: "The fest had different events which not only tested the students' academic talents but also let them enjoy fun activities."

Field visit

Central University of South Bihar's Centre for Development Studies held an orientation programme on "Rural immersion programme" in association with Jeevika, the state government's body for self-help groups, on Wednesday.

The university's public relations officer Mohammad Mudassir Alam said this was an introductory session for students enrolled in masters of development studies.

The students visited Dobhi, near Sherghati in Gaya for a six-day stay with the rural people till Monday.

Samapika Mohapatra, the head of the centre, said: 'These field visits are helpful and very essential for students in order to get internship and placement opportunities. This study tour will provide field exposure to students on development activities in rural areas."

Advances in physics

The physics department of Patna Science College held a national conference on "Advances and innovations in physics: a promise for society" on February 5 as part of Patna University centenary celebrations.

This conference was conducted at the university's Wheeler Senate House. Chief guest at the event was S.N. Guha, founder vice-chancellor of Aryabhatta Knowledge University, while Patna University vice-chancellor Rash Bihari Prasad Singh and pro-vice-chancellor Dolly Sinha were also present.

Bhartendu Singh from Banaras Hindu University delivered the keynote lecture. Other eminent speakers included Rabin Banerjee from S. N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Calcutta, Manabendra Mukherjee from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Calcutta, and V.K. Singh from the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in New Delhi.

Blood camp

Total 44 students donated blood at a camp held at St Xavier's College on Tuesday. The Camp was organised under the aegis of Kurji Holy Family Hospital as part of the college's effort to contribute to society.

The institution organise such blood donation camps every year and students come out in large numbers every time.

Tuesday's camp was no different. Some of the donors were first-time participants and excited to get the opportunity; some were rejected after their weight and haemoglobin tests.

The medical team took 44units of blood and conducted a screening for other students for another camp soon. The students will get a donor card valid for six months.

Dr Reena Ranjan told the students: "The collected blood will be used for those who get injured in accidents, and for expecting mothers."
