Patna: Football fever has gripped the city and people are waiting for the World Cup 2018 final between France and Croatia on Sunday.
Hotels and cafes in the city are organising events and screening for the final. Hotel Maurya has planned to organise an event from 6.30pm till 10.30pm.
"The first half of the event will be entertainment programmes hosted by RJ Anjali and singers like Manisha Gaur and Azhar Hussain will take part. In the second half, the game will be screened on a 24 x 10ft screen. We got a tremendous response as 450 out of 600 passes have been sold out. If needed, we will increase the number of passes so that more viewers can be accommodated. The event's slogan is Russia nahi toh Maurya hi sahi which means 'If not Russia then Maurya it is," said event promoter Bablu Singh.
"For soccer lovers, Café Dot will have a 'Predict the Match' game from the moment the game kicks off. The café will randomly ask the guests to predict the next five minutes correctly. Each right prediction will earn them a 5 per cent discount and the winning prediction will earn them 10 per cent discount. The café has been giving discounts throughout the World Cup season," said Irfan Ahmad Noori of Café Dot.
Hotel Chanakya will screen the match from 7.30pm on two screens. The restaurant in-charge, Aftab Alam, said: "The screening will promote the spirit of football among Patnaites. People will enjoy the evening with soccer."
An official of Bankipur Club said instead of screening a movie on Sunday, they will screen the soccer final for people to enjoy the evening with their families.
