Patna, Aug. 31: Vibhas Kumar Yadav today took charge as the new registrar of Patna University in the presence of vice-chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh and other university officials. Raj Bhavan had issued the notification to this effect was issued on Tuesday evening.
Yadav, prior to the appointment as new registrar of Patna University, was holding the same post at Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University (Brabu), Muzaffarpur. The outgoing registrar of Patna University, Manoj Kumar, has been transferred as the registrar of Veer Kuer Singh University, Ara.
University sources said earlier there were plans to appoint a person from outside the state as the new registrar of the university. Yadav’s appointment assumes importance as he held the same post in the university for more than six years between 2003 and the end of 2009.
Sources said he had worked hard for the development of the university during the six years. However, he was transferred to Brabu in 2009 in the wake of allegations of financial irregularities.
“My first priority will be to bring an improvement in the academic affairs with a timely publication of results and holding of examinations,” Yadav told The Telegraph.
On why he took charge on a holiday, Yadav said: “I thought of joining on a holiday because today is Id as well as Teej. According to Hindu rituals it is an auspicious day for starting a new work.”
Yadav added that the university would not tolerate unruly behaviour on campus.
