Patna, April 28: Congressman and former Munger MP D.P. Yadav claims though the state is perceived to be growing, everything is not as hunky-dory as it seems.
Yadav penned down his thoughts in the book Bihar Bhavishya ke panch saal 2011-2016 that was released at Gandhi Sangrahalaya in Patna today.
Yadav, who has written other books in the past, said: “This is a futuristic book that will give the readers a clear view of Bihar and what is happening in the state. It gives data that would help the reader analyse the correct situation.”
He added: “My aim behind writing books is to educate people. In this book, I have presented a picture of Bihar and its future if the situation remains the same.”
The book presents the state’s past and present and how it would be if the resources remain the same in the face of the rising demand. Yadav presents a compact scientific study in the book on different topics, including progress in fields like agriculture, irrigation, education, urban development, infrastructure, road development, electricity, caste census, industrialisation, law and order and a brief analysis of the topics.
Yadav said: “According to the people, Bihar might be growing but in the real sense, it is not moving in the right direction. I have visited many villages and I know the situation at the ground level. No major work has been done in the agriculture sector that remains the backbone of the society.”
What according to Yadav, is needed for the true development of the state? He said: “Improvement in the field of science and technology is needed. At the same time, discipline in every field is required for the right growth.”
P.P. Ghosh, the director of Asian Development Research Institute, who was present at the event, said: “This book gives the situation of Bihar as it is right now and its future impact. No other state in India has a book giving statistical information about the state. It is more of a popular writing. People are only saying good things about Bihar. But none of them writes about the exact situation. I am happy that someone has taken the initiative to write about it.”
