Purnea, April 12: District Football Association, Purnea, has organised the Seventh Women’s State Football Championship, 2011, at the District Sports Authority Ground. Sixteen teams from different football associations are taking part. The final of the tournament, which began on April 8, is scheduled for April 16.

Hosts Purnea, though, have been already knocked out by Samastipur. The teams that have qualified for the quarter-finals are Patna, Muzaffarpur, Samastipur, Begusarai, Munger, Bhagalpur, Hajipur and West Champaran.

Dr Mukesh, president, District Football Association, Purnea, told The Telegraph: “The 20 best performers in this tournament will selected for the Bihar team. They will represent the state in the national tournament to be held in Chhattisgarh from April 24.”
