Naugachia, Aug. 16: Water in river Ganga near Naugachia sub-division of Bhagalpur has risen 13cm above the danger mark over the past three days. It has exposed the water resources department’s failure to counter the problem. On August 14, state health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey had to interfere in flood-fighting work. He motivated people to fight flood water leaking through a damaged sluice gate in Bihpur block.

Sources said 3.67 lakh cusecs water has been discharged from Sone river on August 14 and 1.65 lakh cusecs from Kamla river yesterday, leading to the situation.
