Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi's offer to donate flats to dependants of the Sukma martyrs has brought relief for Parma Devi, the mother of slain CRPF jawan Abhay Kumar.

Parma, a resident of Loma village in Vaishali, said she heard about the offer but has not received any official communication from the actor.

"I am thankful to him (Oberoi) if he has made such an announcement. We could never think of living in a flat in Thane (as announced by the actor). It is like a dream come true for the family, who are going through the most-critical phase of their lives after Abhay's demise," Parma, 68, said on Sunday.

Oberoi's real estate firm Karrm Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. has donated 25 flats to families of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) martyrs at Thane in Maharashtra. Reports suggested that Vivek's company wrote a letter to the CRPF stating he would donate flats to the families of the soldiers, who died in the April 24 attack at Sukma in Chhattisgarh. Out of the 25 slain personnel, six were from Bihar.

Sunita Devi, who lost her husband Ranjeet Kumar Yadav in the incident, sounded happy too.

"It's solace for us, who lost the only bread earner," said Sunita, who has two minor sons. Sunita came to know about the actor's offer through newspapers on Saturday.

"The benevolence shown by the actor is a sort of tribute to the departed soul, who laid down his life for the sake of national security. I am proud of my son's supreme sacrifice," said Abhay's mother Mango Devi. Abhay's father Indradev Yadav, a resident of Sheikhpura, too was all praise for the Company actor Oberoi.

"He (Oberoi) did what many would not do," he said.

Relatives of four other martyrs hailing from Patna, Bhojpur, Rohtas and Darbhanga districts expressed similar feelings.

Rita Devi, wife of late Naresh Yadav, a resident of Darbhanga's Ahila village, said: "Though the loss of life can't be compensated, such assistance boosts morale."

The CRPF headquarters had expressed gratitude to the actor for lending his support to the families of the slain jawans.
