The 18th annual fair of Bihar Mahila Udyog Sangh is the ultimate destination for those with a penchant for products to accentuate the beauty of their homes.

Women entrepreneurs have set up 170 stalls at the five-day fair that tourism minister Sunil Kumar inaugurated at Patliputra ground on Thursday. The fair is a treasure trove of designer lamp shades, cushion covers, Mithila paintings and home décor items of Manjusha art, Sikki, Godana and Tikuli art and Patna Kalam.

Indu Kumari, a Patna resident, said: “In my stall, you can find paintings of Tom and Jerry between Rs 500 and }Rs 1,000. Those looking for home décor items for their children’s room would definitely like it.” Patna Kalam, a style of painting dating to the Mughal period and those of Rajput style were also on sale in the stall.

Lovers of Kundan jewellery must visit Sneh’s stall. “Intricate kundan sets from Rs 500 to Rs 20,000 are available at my stall,” said Sneh from Muzaffarpur. Five fashion designing students of Patna Women’s College are selling handmade products. Heavy embroidered Karachi work saris, handpainted kantha saris from Calcutta and cotton saris from Pune are worth checking out.
