Young farmers can expect a helping hand from Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour, to fight the effects of climate change and natural calamities, as well as in adopting modern methods of cultivation.
Vice-chancellor of the university, M.L. Choudhary, told The Telegraph on Friday that the institution has decided to constitute a team of progressive and young farmers in 20 districts to promote horticulture, bee keeping and poultry.
The varsity would host a two-day Kisan Mela, starting Saturday. “The purpose of the fair is to introduce young farmers to modern and scientific methods of cultivation,” said Choudhary.
State agriculture minister Narendra Singh would inaugurate the Kisan Mela. The varsity would felicitate 25 farmers for their innovations in farming. On the second day — March 10 — experts would address 21 farmers from 20 districts on the benefits and development in horticulture.
