Jayaprakash Narayan International Airport director Rajendra Singh Lahauria (left) addresses a meeting of the airport officials, airlines staff and security personnel among others as part of the ongoing aviation safety week being observed by Airports Authority of India (AAI). Lahauria said AAI observes the aviation safety week from November 23-27 in order to promote aviation safety practices in flight operations. While making the presentation, Lahauria emphasised on strict adherence to norms envisaged by the International Civil Aviation Organisation, the global civil aviation regulator. Lahuria said: "Air travel is considered to be the safest form of transport. However, the accidents that do take place lead to fatal results. It has been observed that 99 per cent of the accidents occur due to human errors. One of the motives behind observing the aviation safety week is to enhance alertness among people involved in flight operations." Text by Piyush Kumar Tripathi, picture by Nagendra Kumar Singh
