Patna, Jan. 3: Investors, whose projects were approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), can send emails directly to the industries department to inform the government about problems for not setting up units.
The department has launched an email id recently, idc_bihar@yahoo.co.in, where some responses have been received.
In December last year, the department had talked about bringing in a proper and effective Management Information System (MIS) with the aim to track and stay in touch with investors and companies whose projects have already been approved in the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) but have not witnessed any ground work till now.
“The same can be said to be a step towards attaining the MIS. The fact lies that since 2006, the SIPB has approved more than a thousand proposals worth at least Rs 3 lakh crore. But the actual investment in the state is in the tune of approximate Rs 600-700 crore. This means that there are many projects, which have been approved but have not seen the light of the day. The e-mail address has been put on the website of the department (www.industries.bih.nic.in). A proper database can be made accordingly,” an official of the department said.
He added: “We took the move last week and some investors sent their grievances over the email id. If an investor reacts and informs the department about the status of his project, the government can also help him.”
Earlier, senior department officials had stressed on the creation of a proper database after which the department will keep a tab on the investors and talk to them from time to time in a bid to know their problems.
“The department wants to know whether they are really serious towards setting up their units in the state or not. It will help us plan a strategy with such entrepreneurs,” Naveen Verma, the principal secretary of the industries department, said.
