Those who like to enjoy a few drinks as they dance and let their hair down have a destination in town — The Disc Man.
They also won’t have to worry about returning home late or driving after a few drinks. The lone discotheque in the city is planning a drop-home cab service as well.
The Disc Man has been operating without a liquor licence since inauguration on December 16 last year. Now, its patrons can order their preferred poison at the newly opened bar. “Liquor will be served from today (Thursday),” said Ashish, the manager of The Disc Man. “We got the liquor licence a week back. But it took us some time to set up the bar.”
The liquor menu of The Disc Man has a wide range. Besides premium whiskeys and a selection of beer, rum and vodka, one can also order cocktails and shots. The price ranges from Rs 150 to Rs 250 per peg.
“We are not increasing the entry charge at the disco,” said Ashish. A couple have to pay Rs 500 on weekends as cover.
Regular party-hoppers are excited with the new offering of their favourite disco.
“My friends and I visit the disco regularly. We are really excited that it is serving liquor now,” said Garima Sandhya, a student of Patna Women’s College.
She added: “The disco should pay attention to the safety of its customers after their dance and the drink sessions.”
The disco management claimed that the safety of patrons was its primary concern. Manager Ashish said: “We always have five bouncers to deal with unruly people.”
The Disc Man is also planning to start a cab service. “Now that we have a bar, people coming here will be drinking, after which, they should not drive. We are planning to start a drop-home service. It will be implemented according to patrons’ response.”
