Two children suffering from suspected encephalitis died at Kejriwal Maternity Clinic in Juran Chapra late on Sunday evening.

Four more children are admitted to the clinic and two to Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur with symptoms of the vector-borne disease.

Dr S. Choudhary of Kejriwal Maternity Clinic said Salma (4) and Vikas Kumar (3) had been rushed to the clinic from Gai Ghat in Muzaffarpur and Taryani in Sheohar district on Sunday morning. “They died in course of treatment. Symptoms of encephalitis-like disease have been found in both of them,” he added.

Civil surgeon Dr Gyan Bhushan said: “I had examined the two kids, who died at the clinic owing to suspected encephalitis. Tests are being conducted to confirm the cause of death.”
