Patna, Nov. 26: Losing important documents will soon be history.

The Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE) has launched Parinam Manjusha, an initiative to provide students easy access to academic documents online. The board developed the portal in collaboration with National E-Governance Division (NEGD), ministry of electronics and information technology, and launched it on November 24.

The board officials of the regional office (Bihar and Jharkhand) said the digital web space will store all documents, including marksheets, migration and other passing certificates of both exams (matriculation and intermediate).

"The student who signed up for the digital locker need Aadhaar card to link it with their accounts. The introduction of digital lockers, an online storage account much like a regular e-mail account will minimize the process of carrying physical files, getting numerous copies attested and even verification. The verification of the documents will be done online by the educational institution and by the board," said the official.

Regional officer R.R. Meena said the board and its regional offices will be able to store and access academic records through this repository. "The digital documents will contain the signature of the controller of examinations," he added.

The schools and students welcomed the move taken by the board.

Seema Singh, principal of St Karen's High School, said: "With the introduction of digital academic repository, students may not need to carry physical documents while taking admission for higher education or applying for jobs. They can easily take a print of the documents or share it from their digital locker."

C.B. Singh, the director of DY Patil Pushpalata Patil International School, said the initiative will minimise the chances of losing the original documents. "The school administration will help the students in signing up a digital account on the board's official website. But first, the school will ensure that all the students have their Aadhaar cards with them," he said.

Ananya, a Class XI student of St Michael's High School, said: "In this era of digitisation, it will be a boon for us. I keep all my notes in digital form and store it on my email or pen-drive. One of my cousins lost her passing certificate and it took almost a month to get the new one after all the procedure. It is better to have a digital locker to store all the documents rather than carrying it."

Another student, Priyanka Kumari of Class X of Loyola High School said she had already created her account by signing up on the CBSE's academic repository. "The process of creating the locker is very easy. The only document you need to create a digital locker is the Aadhaar card number. Digitisation will reduce the burden of safeguarding the documents," she said.
