Wipro Technologies offered jobs to 63 students of Cimage College in the campus placement drive held at the institution on May 18.
Thirty-six students were from the computer applications department, while the rest were from the science (information technology) department.
College director Neeraj Agrawal said: "The students have not only been given jobs but they have an opportunity to pursue postgraduation from institutions such as Birla Institution of Technology and Science, Pilani, and Vellore Institute of Technology. This would definitely help upgrade their curriculum vitae."
He added: "Initially, the students would be paid something between Rs 14,000 and Rs 23,000 a month but after postgraduation, they would get more than Rs 5 lakh every year."
Sourabh Raj, one of the students placed from the computer applications department, said: "Our college organises campus placements from time to time in which leading companies participate. I am really happy that this time I got selected. I would also be able to complete my postgraduation while working."
The human resources head at Wipro Technologies, S.N. Rao, said this was the first time that the company had selected such a large number of students in Bihar.

Entrance exams
Patna Women's College conducted entrance exams for its vocational courses last Thursday and Friday.
At least 1,000 students took the test for around 300 seats in the undergraduate departments of mass communication, communicative English, microbiology, computer science and business management.
Yashi Kishor, a computer science aspirant, was sure of getting admission in the college. "I have done my best and am looking forward to see my result. The questions were quite simple. I do not know what they will ask in the interview and counselling," she said.
Another aspirant, Manjula Choudhary, who came for the entrance exams with her school friends, said: "I have applied for two vocational courses and hope to get in any one of them. All my friends from school have applied for the same courses and so, there will be competition. The number of aspirants are more than double of the number of seats for the courses. I wish the selection criteria is on cut-off basis."
Summer interns
Eight students from the Centre for Economic Studies and Policies of Central University of South Bihar, Patna, got internship opportunities at institutions across the country in their summer vacations.
Atish Kumar Dash, a faculty member in the economics department, said students enrolled for the second semester would do the internship for two months.
Ruby Choudhary and Sandeep Kumar would intern at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and get a monthly stipend of Rs 10,000.
Three other students - Kumar Ankur Karn, Rinky Kumari and Rajnish Kumari - will pursue internships at the Institute of Human Development, New Delhi.
Swastika Satyam and Mohammad Zafar Alam have received offers from Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna, while Shwetank Upadhyay will intern at the Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi.
The central university's public relations officer, Mohammad Mudassir Alam, lauded the efforts of faculty members Abodh Kumar and Atish Kumar for ensuring the students pursued the internship process.
"Students enrolled in other university programmes also get two-month internships in the summer," said Alam.
Usually, the institutions concerned provide accommodation facilities to students undergoing internships along with a stipend. After successful completion of the internships, the candidates get certificates from the respective institutions, which comes in handy while looking for jobs later.
