The hangover of Shyam Rajak's party for JDU ministers loyal to Nitish Kumar appears to be too long and strong.
Two days after Wednesday's dinner, JDU spokesperson Sanjay Singh on Friday blasted industries minister Bhim Singh for ridiculing his peers over attending the party. Considered a confidant of Nitish, he is a close buddy of Rajak.
Sanjay attacked the minister for his comment that a few in the party (read Rajak and others) wanted to become ' dulha (bridegroom)', while others were trying to be ' sahbala (close friends of the bridegroom)'.Sanjay took strong exception to use of the word ' sahbala' apparently because he went to the house of Rajak - his close friend - on Wednesday.
'Bhim is dreaming to be the chief minister. I am sorry to say that his dream would never be fulfilled. He is the same man who embarrassed Nitish and the state by issuing insensitive comment on the army people,' Sanjay saidbefore leaving for Muzaffarpur with Nitish.
Bhim was in the news last year for his controversial remark that people join the army to become martyrs.
Sanjay is the third JDU spokesperson to attack a minister in the recent past. Earlier, Neeraj Kumar and Ajay Alok had launched attack on three ministers. Neeraj had ticked off chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi for breaking bread with Sadhu Yadav, the controversial brother-in-law of Lalu Prasad. Nitish had downplayed the comments of the spokespersons on the ministers earlier this week. Interestingly, all the three spokespersons accompanied Nitish today to Muzaffapur, where he went to meet the family members of the victims of Sunday's group clashes.
Before leaving for Muzaffarpur, Sanjay - a member of the Bihar Legislative Council - questioned Bhim's academic knowledge. 'He considers himself an intellectual. But I know how much gyaani (knowledgeable) he is. He penned several books on socialist leader Karpoori Thakur. But I know who has written the books on his (read Bhim) behalf,' said Sanjay.
Thakur is considered one of the biggest EBC (Extremely Backward Classes) leaders and Bhim belongs to Chandravanshi caste, a part of the EBCs that constitute 28 per cent votes.
There are a dozen books on Karpoori Thakur written by Bhim, the president of Jan-Nayak Karpoori Thakur Foundation. He organised a programme today on the topic 'Need of empowerment of weaker section for the development of Bihar' at the Legislative Council. Manjhi, the chief guest at the function, indirectly slammed Rajak's dinner in which ministers loyal to him were not invited.
Earlier, Sanjay did not stop just by questioning Bhim's intellect. The JDU spokesperson claimed that the minister had become restless ever since his department was changed. Bhim's portfolios were rural works and panchayati raj under Nitish. In Manjhi's cabinet, he holds the industries portfolio only.
Former MP and expelled JDU leader Shivanand Tiwari expressed disappointment over the present political scenario. He said internal conflict in JDU was affecting the functioning of the government.
